Bed Bugs Can Come From
Almost Anywhere

Just a few years ago, bed bugs seemed like a distant problem, something encountered in the third world rather than here in the United States. In fact, they were nearly eradicated in the developed world by the 1940s. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Bed bugs are back, and the worst part is that you and your home can pick them up from almost anywhere.

How To Know
When You Have Bed Bugs

The only way to be certain that you have bed bugs is to find them. However, there are other signs to watch for, such as new bumps or bug bites that appear overnight, blood smears on your sheets, rashes, skin irritation, bed bug feces in the seams of your bedding (small reddish specks), and molted skins, which are light brown in color. In larger infestations, bed bugs can produce a sickly sweet smell, similar to overripe raspberries, which may also indicate their presence. Still, the only way to be absolutely sure is to find live bugs where they're hiding.
